DeSales junior Jonathan Thompson commits to Cincinnati
SFD junior running back / linebacker Jonathan Thompson committed to the University of Cincinnati yesterday (3/27).
Thompson, a First Team All-Ohio linebacker was the Central District Division-III Defensive Player of the Year and led the Stallions with 31.5 tackles for a loss and nine sacks. He also tied for a team-leading five interceptions. He was third on the team with 74 tackles and on offense, he rushed for 695 yards and had six touchdowns.

Four Stallions Make Their College Choices
On College football's February National Signing Day, four Stallions have made their college choices on where they’ll play collegiately next Fall. Senior lineman Billy Cain and senior linebacker Jason Velazquez will attend Ohio Dominican University, while senior offensive lineman Will Hast signed with Walsh University. Senior wide receiver / defensive back Jordan Johnson will continue his football career at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
In his senior campaign, Billy Cain was named First Team All-Ohio as an offensive lineman. Billy started all 11 games at right guard, after starting every game (12) in 2019. He also made 33 stops this year on defense, with four tackles for loss.
Jason Velazquez led the Stallions with 100 tackles this season and was named First Team All-Central District and Honorable Mention All-Ohio. He was second on the team with 99 stops as a junior.
Will Hast earned Second Team All-Central District honors and all started every game the past two seasons as a tackle for the Stallions.
Johnson was a two-way standout for the Stallions, and started on both sides of the ball, as a junior and a senior (24 games). On defense, Johnson recorded 22 tackles and finished his career with five interceptions. Jordan led the team with 31 receptions and 622 yards and tallied five receiving touchdowns. Johnson’s 622 yards are the most by a DeSales receiver since Charles Chandler in 2011.
During the early signing period, senior running back / linebacker Quintell Quinn signed with Ohio University.
SFD Alumni Bowl Report
Five SFD Football alums are participating in College Football Bowl Games, starting yesterday (12/30) with Rodas Johnson ‘19, a defensive lineman for Wisconsin, in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and continuing last evening when Brian Asamoah ‘18 and the Oklahoma Sooners took on Florida in the Cotton Bowl.

For the season, the redshirt junior running back, led the nation (FCS) with 752 rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

Junior linebacker Jonathan Thompson was named the Columbus Dispatch Metro Defensive Player of the Year today (12/31) and First Team All-Metro.
Senior offensive lineman Billy Cain and senior running back Quintell Quinn were also named to the First Team.

Quintell Quinn signs with Ohio University
Congratulations to senior Quintell Quinn on signing his National Letter of Intent to play collegiately for Ohio Football! Quinn finished Stallion career as the program's all-time leading rusher with 3,363 yards. As a three-year letter-winner, Quinn accounted for 48 touchdowns, 278 tackles, and was a three-time First Team All-Central District Player, in addition to becoming the school's fourth player to be named First Team All-Ohio twice (Mark White, Luke Fickell, Grant Bowman).

Earlier today, the Ohio Preps Sportswriters Association Division-III All-Ohio teams were announced and three Stallions earned First Team All-Ohio honors: senior running back Quintell Quinn, senior offensive lineman Billy Cain, and junior linebacker Jonathan Thompson.
Senior placekicker JJ Baughman was named Second Team All-Ohio and senior linebacker Jason Velazquez was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio.

Quinn becomes the first Stallion to be named to the first team in consecutive seasons since Grant Bowman (1997, 1998). He led the Stallions with 1,350 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns and set a new school-record for career rushing yards with 3,363 yards. On defense, he recorded 89 tackles and ten tackles for a loss with three sacks.
