I work education at Whetstone High in the Special Ed. Dept. I have been there for 12 years. I am currently getting my Masters is Education through Grand Canyon University (Online). I am very active in high school sports. I referee in football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling. I have been selected to working a state championship this for the OHSAA state championships. I also, am the statistician at Dublin Scioto for the basketball team.
Are you married? Kids?
I am married to Christin Giffen 87' grad of DeSales. My son Shawn Cordi is 22 years old. who is originally from Canal Fulton, OH.
What is the fondest memories from your playing career at DeSales?
Winning the State in Football (1985). How we were not even supposed to be in the conversation. In the state semi playing Ironton and the coaches telling us to put your helmets on because they are throwing things at you. Wresting my senior year being around a totally different group of guys.
What was your best game?
1986 against Watterson. We won on a last second field goal to keep our winning streak alive.
What made playing for DeSales special?
The special bond that everyone had. We were a close tight family. The coaches cared for you. What hard work meant. Knowing that all the past alumni were always watching you and making sure that you represented the PURPLE and WHITE the way you were supposed to. seeing all the students and families wearing the purple and white.
What was it like playing for Coach Pusateri?
Playing for Coach Pu was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me. He made promises and he kept them. He was a coach that told you how something was going to turn out and it really did. He was the best offensive line coach that I ever had. To this day I still call him Coach Pu even when I officiate at the schools that he works at. He taught us more than football he taught us about over coming obstacles that you will come across in life.
Do you still follow DeSales, if yes, how closely?
I follow the stallions weekly to this day. I will always send a text to Coach Wiggins the week of the games and tell him good luck. I have only been to playoff games when I am not working a game. I make it a point to come to preseason practice and attend the "Night of Tradition". Since I work varsity high school football games its hard for me to come back on game nights. I follow social media to also keep up with the Stallions.
