What is the fondest memories from your playing career at DeSales?
I have so many great memories from those days at DeSales. I was fortunate to be part of some pretty special years in the program. I was a sophomore on the 1985 State Championship team that went 14-0. Primarily working in a back up role to Mike Asbeck that year was such great learning experience for me. We were able to continue the momentum my junior year by going 10-0 and ending the year with the State's longest active winning streak at 24 games. My Senior year we extended that streak to 32 games before eventually losing 2 tough fought games late in the year. Our class was able to go all the way through the 4 years at DeSales without losing to our rivals, Watterson and Hartley. The bonds that were created during my years at DeSales have stayed with me throughout my life and that core group is still close today.

What was your best game?
I am not sure that I would remember my individual best game.  But the best game I played in was probably the Watterson game my Junior year.  It was already a big game because of it being our rival.  But due to weather that game was moved to Sunday afternoon and probably got a little more attention since it was the only game in town that day.   It was your typical Desales vs. Watterson game...hard hitting, great defense, and came down to the very end.  Our Defense played great that day but our offense couldn't generate any points for most of the game.   We were down 7 points in the 4th quarter and ended up scoring a TD and last second field goal by Dan Sprout to win the game.   To this day I can still picture everyone celebrating as the ball went through the upright.  Pretty special memory!

What made playing for DeSales special?
My Dad was a teacher and coach at DeSales in 70's and early 80's. Some of my fondest childhood memories come from standing on the sidelines during games. I remember being on the bus to and from games, standing in the locker room as the players were getting ready for games and witnessing the intensity and closeness of the room, and watching intently to how much work went into being part of the DeSales program. And then to be part of that myself as a player was pretty amazing.

What was it like playing for Coach Pusateri and Coach Mauro?
I had the privilege of playing for 2 great head coaches. Coach Pu and Phil Mauro. Both were great coaches, but even better men. We were also fortunate to have other great coaches on those teams....Bob Jacoby, Phil Callaghan, Mark Crabtree, and Rocky Pentello were all incredible.

Do you still follow DeSales, if yes, how closely?Absolutely. I try to take my kids to a few game every year. When we can't attend games we always follow the scores on pouring purple. I am sure we will stay close to the program for many years to come. Go Stallions!
